Combines Concave replacement

I ordered concave from Sloan It was at my shop the next day. Installed it with a cherry picker with the help of my son. Fit great. I was wandering if anyone has left the filler bars out from between rasp barsIJ I run mostly corn and soybeans. Dealer said to leave them off. I am concerned about if I pick up a rock does the filler bars help protect rasp bars. Or will they still push rocks into the rock trap. My old bars were bent up pretty bad after taking them off. I am putting new bars on. I didn't get the chrome because I was afraid they would break instead of bending. Any thoughts on filler bars on or offIJ Thanks

I have bent a lot of chrome bars, and never broken one yet. I also took out the cussed filler plates in there too and it felt like another fifty hp in beans. No problems in corn either. gs

Thanks for the comments I will leave them out and see. Never can have to much HP right.

With a 20' table and a 6 row corn head, hp is a non-issue with mine. Fuel use sure is, though. gs
