    Your Own Personal Structure

When it comes to your own personal household and famliy farm, how are the "job duties" doled out? What kind of structure do you have? Do you feel you might need more? Less? Or is it as good as it gets.

U.S. Department of Agriculture Announces Key Staff Appointments

They all look like stable, well-educated picks. Don't know any of them, but maybe that's a good thing. It all feels very stable though. Thank you for the information.

    Conditioning Rolls

Go with what you know, what you're used to and what works for you. The salesperson will still get his/her commission. Maybe not as much as they would like, but they won't starve.

    The Chicago Mercantile Weather Derivatives

I'm with you on that part. That is wild. This sounds similar to "covering the spread" in sports betting. I wonder if that was the impetus.

    Gorilla's Got Covid

This might become an issue with livestock: Gorillas Get Covid It was passed to them from an asymptomatic staff member. With all the new strains going around, do you think it might be just a matter of time before it can get passed down to livestock? Something to think about.

    Orders already picking up

This might be a new trend......buying meat locally from trusted ranchers and such. The corporate operations cannot be fully trusted with the cleanliness issues and I think more people are waking up to that.

    Business classes

I took a Learning How To Learn class through Cousera and I have no complaints. It was offered by 2 brick and mortar universities, and that was what sold me on it.

    UK, Japanese, South Africa strain

We won't. The flu has a new strain every year, and we're left guessing whether the current vaccine will work. This is why flu vaccines have a very low success rate, and the main reason I don't take them.

    Replacing belts on tractor

Any job is easy if you have the right tools. Access to the belt helps a lot as well. Some tractors and vehicles are made to where you HAVE to call a mechanic because the belt is in a location that you have to remove other parts to get access, and those parts require special tools only sold to...

    Automation

Your posts on this lead me to believe that you want automation in order to streamline the whole process. That's not what automation is for. Even autonomous cars have "drivers" to monitor things. GPS enabled machinery streamlines that part of the process, but everything else jusy needs to stop...

USDA Announces Continuation of the Farmers to Families Food Box Program, Fifth Round of Food Purchases

It was only about 2 months ago that Washington state was worried about getting this. I'm glad to see that they will. Does anyone know if this was instigated by Trump by any chance?

    Seed Brand Preferences

Do any of you have a brand preference for seeds? Park has been around the longest (I believe) and Burpee is the most popular in my neck of the woods. It's the one I prefer. Do you have a go-to brand, or just pick up whatever is the most easily available?

    Everything But The Moo

Here is an article in The Arizona Beef Blog that points out everything that beef byproducts are used for. You can use everything but the moo, as they say. The horns, for one example, are used to make buttons. It's a very fascinating article.

    Good Reading Material

I saw the movie with Woodie Harrelson as the dad. One of the most heart wrenching movies I've ever seen, and I've seen my share. If the book is half as good as the movie, I'm in.

    Farm Smart Alarms

Is the livestock worth it? A cost/benefit analysis will give you the technical answer, but knowing your own situation and surroundings will fill in the blanks.
