I've been considering getting a UTV for a while now, but there are so many options that it's hard to narrow down the field. Which UTV do you think is best for beginners? I'm looking for a workhorse rather than just a sporty model.
Our Inspired Roots and Tastes Better From Scratch are two of my favorite websites that feature cooking from scratch, but they sometimes rely on store bought foods like tortillas instead of making their own. For things like that, I just google how to make X food item from scratch. Of course...
You've probably seen people growing bi-color roses. Hot Merengue, Sunset, and Double Delight are some striking examples of bi-color roses that we could all grow.
But there are some colors that you simply can't grow because the rose lacks the ability. Blue roses and rainbow roses are examples...
I'm using a Husqvarna Automower 315. I owned one of Husqvarna's first robotic lawnmower models, and this one is definitely an improvement. I got it for the shop. It cuts well and it's actually pretty quiet. It draws a crowd from the road which is mainly why I wanted it. Unfortunately, it...
I'd gladly welcome a bumper crop of cherry tomatoes. They're fantastic in summer salads. I don't have a lot coming in yet, but I'm sure squash will reign supreme like it usually does. I had a great crop of asparagus this year, but my asparagus patch has already petered out.
I grow and sell flowers among other things. Well, remember when those rainbow roses were all the rage? Yikes, those were so hard to make! You had to be painstakingly careful and it took ages. Plus some people had these oddly specific color combinations they wanted to see, even though a lot...
The problem is that she saw me at the hospital taking care of its interiorscaping, so in her mind, the whole social distancing thing was a lie. What she failed to notice was the time of day, which was the evening when people weren't in the lobby. I wore gloves and a face mask. I took care of...
Even though I don't use herbicides, I've noticed that some weeds are incredibly tenacious and have a strong sense of self-preservation lately. We didn't have a hard freeze this year and I wonder if that might have something to do with it. I appreciate you coming back to share an update. I...
Maybe you can find another use for her. Back in the day those cows worked as draft animals on the farm (oxen) if they weren't going to be slaughtered. If she has a good temperament, she could also be used to keep another lonely herd animal company.
I maintain a few gardens at some local businesses and when you use very large containers or raised garden beds the soil doesn't get replaed each cycle. That especially true if the planting space doesn't have a bottom to it. You're right, it's not really economical to do so. Instead, the soil...
Do you guys read your online reviews? Do you ever respond to the negative reviews? I just had a customer leave me a scathing review because the shop was closed due to the coronavirus pandemic at a time when she needed flowers for her mother's memorial service. I want to be sensitive because I...
My insurance requires us to have several of them throughout the property. The firefighters came out and did an inspection and gave me tons of extra tips for how to best maintain fire safety. It was interesting, and they gave practical tips for fire prevention and how to lessen the impact if...
Thanks for the warning! Yep, we all get attached to them as well. Birds of all kinds have such big personalities that it's hard not to get attached to them. It seems like a bad idea to get peacocks during mating season. I think I'll wait this one out until the timing is better.
When it comes to raising trees, which type do you believe is the most versatile? I'm leaning towards walnut trees. You can harvest the walnuts for years and once the tree is spent, you can harvest the wood. The shells are also usable. They can be sold for crafting, for cat litter, and for...
That's fantastic for avocado growers. I love to eat them and can't imagine turning them down because of price. They're just so versatile and flavorful. I've tried growing them in one of my greenhouses to no avail.
Are they getting enough sun? They love sunlight! Check the foliage and if it's leggy, then you'll know that's your problem. Some varieties don't bloom until June or July depending on the region so it might not be time for them to bloom yet.
I know. That's what I said.
After reading what you said about roosters, I bet the peacocks will also be fine as long as there is no peahen around to fight over. Fowl is fowl. But then again, I know that not all of them behave the same, so I thought it prudent to ask in case peacocks are...
I'm thinking about adding some peacocks to the shop for added interest. I'm not interested in peahens. The peacocks would essentially live as pets. The shop sees a lot of people during the busy seasons. Is there a particular breed of peacock that does better with people than others? Is it...
Hawks and raccoons the biggest problem around here. Raccoons are crafty little things and they're persistent.
@RichZ Oh, so you live close to THAT neighbor. I would die of embarrassment if my pets were hassling the neighbors, but we recently had a neighbor move away whose dog barked day and...
I forgot my shopping list when I went to the store yesterday, so of course, I failed to buy some stuff we needed like cornmeal and brown sugar. What can I use in the place of those two ingredients? I don't want to brave the store again.
