Where do you get info about new Agriculture Technologies? (let's start a discussion)

I just Google the term more times than not. Successful Farming is always a good source. Basically, anywhere there are industry leaders and specialists is where I go to that information. When I read an article in a major outlet like SF, I research the person who wrote it to see how credible they...

Buffalo, you say? "Oh give me a home where the buffalo roam, and the deer and the antelope play" Gene Autry You must have quite the spread to have buffalo, my friend. Do you have a drone yet to keep eyes on the herd?

    Coal Power

What are your views on coal being used to generate electricity? Do you think it's needed in this day and age? I think of what the miners have to go through just to earn a buck and think that there has to be a better way in 2020.

    Renting Buildings

If the people and the timing is right, you betcha. Money is money and it sounds like the work on behalf of the owner would be minimal.

I've inherited a khat farm in a country where it's legal to grow.yikes

It sounds like you have done cost/benefit analysis concerning the importing of fertilizer? I've heard stories about the profit margin of this crop. You're one lucky dude. The timing of it all kinda sucks though. Good luck with it, I hope it works out well.

Why the rush to gun stores

This whole thing is just the typical snowball effect that is based on emotion rather than logic and reason. Monkey see monkey do. One person freaks out and the crowd follows, assuming the first person had reason. We treat education in America like a red-headed step child and this is what we...

Why Is My Generator Not Producing Power

Take a voltmeter to the applicable parts. Sounds like you have a short somewhere that is disabling the electrical components. Did rain or moisture get into it at any time it was just sitting around?

    Good to be us

"Somebody told us Wall Street fell but we were so poor that we couldn't tell" Song Of The South, Alabama I have always said that it isn't what you make, it's how you live on how much you make. But we have stocked up on Chicken Noodle, Tomato and other soups. It does the job at a low cost.

    Virtual Farm Tours

They are doing this with national parks as well. But Frisbee is a great way to get outdoor exercise and it's non-contact. If you have enough trees you can play Frisbee golf too.

    How Accurate Are Rain Gauges

You can check on Amazon or E-Bay for prices. But for me, I bought a square Tupperware container and marked the inches off by a ruler. The opening is 5 or 6 inches wide so it's accurate enough.

How To Change Control Pattern On Excavator

https://construction.papemachinery.com/blog/how-to-change-the-control-pattern-on-a-john-deere-excavator This is for newer Deere models. The process has gotten easier over the years and I don't know if the process I posted speaks for other brands.

Chainsaws - whats your brand of choice/fave model

I have always went to Stihl for my chainsaws. They are easy to work on. I have had to change the chains many times and it just seems like a simpler process, for me at least, than other brands.

    Are You Innovative?

Whether you own 5 acres or 5 thousand, and regardless of what you do with that land, do you consider yourself innovative? Do you find interesting/out-of-the-box solutions to difficult problems, for example?

    How to conserve water

In my opinion, rain barrels are an excellent way to keep water dispersed more evenly over land. If you have gutters, where does the run-off go? Specific areas of land, and that's it. I've seen property where the owners cut and angled the down-spouts of their gutter to feed directly into their...

    Foreign Investors

You know John, I look at it this way: As long as the land owned by people who do not live in the U.S. is less then native owners, we're good. And while we're at it, have the "foreigners" land more capable of growing crops that are less profitable that the native owners. I have no idea how that...

    Pole barn, brick or what?

My garage/shop is all cinder block. It's how I inherited it. It wouldn't take a lot to build an interior wall for the purpose of insulating it. Go with block.

    A Question About A Well

I have just acquired a small parcel of land next to mine that has an old well on it. I know nothing about it except that there is a pump house right next to it. Does anyone have any pointers on where I should start to maybe getting that old thing useful again?

    Pressure Wash Or Sanding

When it comes to cleaning off wood for the purpose of re-painting, which method do you prefer? They say pressure washing is touchy business and you could end up ruining something by way of too high of pressure. But sanding is more labor and time intensive. Me, I go the pressure washing route...

    What causes crop failure?

The soil and crops that grow from it are simpatico for the most part. Changes in weather will effect their relationship with each other, but as weather patterns change the earth acclimates to it. That's what it does.
