    Milwaukee tools

What is the charge for? Shipping? I don't have much experience with the brand, so I appreciate the warning. It feels some companies try to cut corners during manufacturing to save money. Maybe that's what happened with their design.

    Worms in our tomatoes

It's September, so if your plants are winding down, I'd go ahead and pull them up before the worms head over to your other veggies.

    Happy Labor Day

Do you have any plans to celebrate the day? We're having a neighborhood barbecue of sorts to raise money for the schools. I'm making baked beans and potato salad. We're all pretty spread out since it's a rural area, and we're still trying to avoid the dreaded coronavirus, so I have my doubt...

    Vericomposting equipment

I've tried using a regular compost bin, but haven't had much luck it. I'm considering making the switch to a different system like vericomposting. Is there a good commercial set up available? I'd like to build one from scratch, but I'm not sure that I can find the materials.

    Preventing theft of ATV/UTV

Of course, we never leave the key behind. If we're going to be a good distance from them, we usually remove a fuse so it won't start.

    No new trucks!

I've never leased a vehicle, but I've noticed that our lots are bare. Several dealerships have closed up shop as well. I guess it will be bare pickings for a while. I wish you luck on the hunt, @Ritar.

    Thrifty pet care tips

I feel like I spend a small fortune on my pets. Have you found some cost-effective ways to save money while still providing your critters with a good life?

Farmers’ Protest – Kisan Andolan! The Unspoken Truth!

I'm sorry to hear that things are so tough right now in your country. To tell you the truth, we have a few of laws in the United States too, and it rubs some farmers the wrong way here as well. I wish you lots of luck!

    Solar cookers

Has anyone tried using a solar cooker? I've seen models that you can make at home, which might be fun for the kids. I've also seen some commercial models that are sold online. I find the idea of using a solar cooker appealing because using the stove just makes the house hotter.

    Mums

I have a bunch of garden mums. They have a few buds, but I don't have any blooms yet. They don't usually pop open until the end of August or early September for me.

    Torrential rain

Can you redirect the water by creating shallow trenches between your rows of crops? It has worked for me in the past when my crops were getting waterlogged.

    Fall crops

Are you going to plant a fall crop? I'm not sure that I want to brave the heat for another round of planting and harvesting, but it would be another shot at reaping some fresh ripe tomatoes, so maybe it will be worth it. What's going in your fall garden?

    Growing crops at home

That method of growing is especially popular with lovers of microgreens. It's also a popular way to grow herbs. Just pick three or four plants that have the same growing conditions. You could get one of those AeroGardens if you're looking for a quick, easy way to jump in. It does all the...

    Gourds

I doubt the seeds survived the winter, since they'd inevitably get wet and freeze. Maybe if they were dried out first it could work? I usually just save a few seeds for next year's harvest and start fresh. You guys might know of a hardier variety though.

burning my grass and planting lettuce with a push seeder, pictures of pests, looking for advice

Yeah, everyone has their own idea of what's best. It used to bug me that there wasn't one right answer with this stuff. I use a push seeder and it does the trick. The only thing that I don't like about it is having to buy additional plates, and sometimes they don't exist, so you're left with...

In 1 word describe your weekend?

Rainy. It's been nice to have the garden watered by Mother Nature, and I'm sure I'll appreciate it more when the water bill comes next month, but I could sure use some sun.

    So much rain

Same here, especially with the mowing. I suppose the benefit is that the bees appreciate my overgrown patch of weeds. Some of my veggies are bursting open before they can fully ripen. That's probably the biggest downside for me.

    Soil compost for tactile play

Would that be safe? I can't exactly put my finger on why, but it seems gross to let a child play with compost. Isn't that stuff dirty? Tactile play usually means bare hands. I suppose gardening could be seen as dirty too. I'm not sure why it feels so different to me, but it does.

    No bees. You?

Yep, they just started coming out here. We have a few butterflies during the day too and tons of moths at night. I'm hoping that bodes well for my harvest this year.

USDA Hosts First-Ever Virtual Fair on Food Waste Reduction Innovations and Leaders

To quote straight from the official website, "In the US, more than one-third of all available food goes uneaten through loss or waste." Wow! That is not good. It looks like this fair might have some useful content. I just hope it isn't too salsey.
