It's a money grab. If a product lasts longer than 1 generation, 25 years or so, the company that makes that product will not see s steady income. How could a business stay in business like that?
If you had the money, would you buy land for the purpose of leasing it out to hunters? I have heard there is a good revenue stream in this business if the location and acreage is right.
It can be fairly cheap too.
Or someone who has a backhoe for hire. Small farming based communities have the best deals here because the locals need the work and you might be surprised at how many people own that machinery outright. They mostly charge by the hour, at least in my neck of woods, so the harder the...
There are people who are trying to start up businesses using drones to help map fields. They also do it periodically throughout the year to help check the health of their crops. That might be a good bet to hedge against whatever else you may do.
I don't think viruses can affect drones.
Did anyone here know this existed? They enacted it in 2010, during Obama's term I believe, and have updated it yearly since then.
I for one appreciate their efforts. What do you all think of this?
Well, tax season is upon us so it's time to start thinking about what you can write off. Every business is a little different, but can you write off your cell phone / internet service?
Any other ideas as to what we can write off as business expenses would be welcome.
I would hope utility companies measure them the way contractors measure up bridges. At least high enough to accomodate semi trucks. Any load higher than that and you're tempting fate anyway.
I would give it 24 hours. A de-humidifier would help the process along if there's humidity involved. You should also take into account how much you're using. Quantity comes into play with drying time.
Yes, if there's any mold then sanding is only half the job. You might be able to rent a washer in your area if you don't anticipate using it that often.
I would say "could be a bonanza". From what I understand, China agreed to buy 80 billion dollars worth of agricultural goods, but didn't specify exactly what they would buy. It's a good thing, don't get me wrong, but no one knows exactly HOW good it will be yet.
A cow's life in general seems boring. I don't think they respond to stimuli like that. They seem perfectly content chewing their cud and swooshing the flies away with their tails.
There is success with this when you're teaching people who don't use a computer. Like if you want to start a community garden close to an old folks home. I would just do it for free in this case.
A lot of the discussions I hear revolve around the pros and cons of environmental benefits versus how hard it is to keep pests from damaging your crop because no pesticides are used. It seems very problematic when done on a large scale.
It has been many years since there was heavy press about people stealing chemicals from farms to make meth. I don't believe the problem has gone away, so could people chime in and tell us if there is a problem of this type of theft in your area? People in a community will talk about their...
If you live or drive in mostly mountainous conditions, a 13 gear is what you want. If you're still new, start there and work your way up to 18. Keep in mind that you don't need 18 gears to get you through Nebraska, but they come in handy in Idaho during January.
Most companies these days, from...
Yes. I mainly enjoy being my own boss. Farming is an in-depth job in that when you need to learn something new, you will. Over time you will find out that you know more things than you thought you would when you first started, and I enjoy that.
Unintentionally bad farming practices for the most part. Human error. Weather plays a role, but not nearly as much as people would lead you to believe.
One more before I hit the sack. I know the laws in my area, but what damage, exactly, will snow chains do to asphalt when they are not needed? Will they slowly chew it up, or compromise the integrity of the asphalt? Is it quick damage, or slow and unnoticeable?
Hey there.
So, I have a garage close to an area where I drive a lot and a rock got kicked up and cracked one of my windows. Single pane. Would you recommend plexiglass instead? Or just slow down more when I'm close to the garage?
Simple question, I know, but I'm on the fence with this one.
