    Answer Neg Reviews?

I've always heard that you shouldn't ignore negative reviews. Write her back, and thank her for her feedback and apologize that being closed was an inconvenience for her (even though you didn't do anything wrong). Offer your condolences to her for her loss. You could even offer her a discount or...

    Community Or Neighborhood Gardens

There are community gardens in my area, but I just have my own in my backyard. A couple of my friends have become interested in growing things, so I suggested they start with the community gardens. They are a great resource for people who do not have the space for their own gardens.

    How Hard Is Cdl Test

From what I hear, the written part of the CDL test isn't too difficult to pass. Just study the CDL manual thoroughly, and you should be okay. You can take a practice test online if that makes you feel better, too.

What Do You Do With Cows When They Stop Producing?

One of our dairy cows is 10 years old. She is still producing milk, but I know she could stop at any time. What do you all do with your dairy cows when they stop producing milk for you? I'd like to keep her and continue to provide her a home, but I'm sure that's not very practical to do on...

    City To Country

I'm sure some people will want to move to less-populated areas, but I don't think it will be an overwhelming number of people. Unfortunately, many people are still under the impression that the virus isn't a serious issue. Personally, I'm glad that I live in a rural area.

    A bit of ranting

Times have definitely changed. Culture defines "success" differently now. I think farmers are successful - if you provide food for yourself and/or others, I consider that a success, but I know that not everyone does.

    Rent land

I believe land is rented out by the acre. I know that if you rent it out for crop farming, you can charge more than if you're renting it out for pasture. How much your land will yield as well as the land's condition will also determine how much you can charge for it.

    Protecting Against Thieves

Have you all ever had any livestock stolen? What precautions do you take to protect your livestock against thieves? We have been fortunate enough not to have had any of ours taken so far, but I'd like to increase our security anyway.

    Meat shortages

I think that's definitely a possibility. I tend to purchase meat in bulk, so we are all set for several weeks, but I know that not everyone can do that. If we have to, we can go without meat, but I do enjoy having it as part of our meals.

    Family or First-Generation Farmers?

My grandparents farmed, but my parents did not. I always loved going to visit my grandparents on their farm. I would spend a few weeks with them in the summer, and I loved helping out while I was there. I learned a lot from them, but since I wasn't on the farm all the time, I had a lot to learn...

    Natural Flea and Tick Prevention?

I found the first tick of the season on our dog earlier this week. We usually use Frontline flea and tick prevention in the Spring and Summer months. However, I'd really rather use something natural. Have you all actually had any luck with natural flea and tick prevention methods? If so, which...

    Cleaning routine

I divide our cleaning routine by room, but dividing it by task sounds like a good way to do it, too. I find that if we take on one room a day, we stay on task and it doesn't all pile up on us. It seems easier somehow even though we are doing the same amount of work.

    Struggling!

We are struggling, too. My husband has had to put more hours in around the farm because I can't help him as much as I usually do. Our kids are doing elearning through their school. I am supposed to help them with their lessons, and I am not cut out to be a teacher, either!

    Farm Animals for Business Meetings?

That's such an innovative idea! I know a lot of organizations do online fundraisers these days, but this is definitely a creative twist on fundraising. I bet people get a kick out of seeing farm animals in their business meetings - it certainly would livens things up.

    Teaching others to farm

This is definitely a great opportunity if you'd like to pursue it. Teaching someone else will not only help that person, but it helps you, too. It makes you examine what you are doing - what is working and what isn't. If you find you enjoy teaching, you could probably put together some online...

    How Soon to Tag Calves?

We all know how important it is to tag our cows for identification purposes. But how soon do you tag your calves after they're born? I was just curious since it is now calf season.

    Teaching children gentleness

Birdie, how old is she? Young children don't comprehend a lot of more complex concepts. We, as adults, know that not every animal wants to be smothered with kisses and huge, but it's hard for kids to understand that. Maybe you could practice on stuffed animals first. Show her how to pet the...

    Multipurpose crops

We grow corn, too. Though we do not grow it in bulk, I have a lavender bush. I use the flowers for my tea. I make lavender essential oil. I also use the flowers in little bags, and place them in my linen closet, under my pillow, etc to make things smell good. The one under my pillow helps me...

A Different Way of Doing Business

We have some of our customers' email addresses. When we were going to the farmer's market, we had a sign-up sheet for people who wanted occasional email updates from us. So, we've sent our customers an email stating that we will deliver goods to them if they'd like. I hope this all calms down...

    Spreading Cheer to Seniors

I saw on the news that Meals on Wheels isn't allowing volunteers to visit with the seniors when they drop off food anymore. Since this human interaction is one of the only ones they get, I imagine it is very difficult for the seniors right now. So, I'm having my kids color pictures and write...
