Combines 1010 header on a 2588

Al are you sure you don't want to trade that 1010 header off on a 36' draperIJ I had 36' draper on the Deere I ran this summer. I think it is the only way to go. We did not use the transport kit for moving down the road, we had a 36' header trailer. I think a good header trailer is easier and faster than the header transport kit. How many hours does the 2388 have by now. From what I read on the daily blog you kept it pretty busy.

He's right if you can get the money find you a good used draper 36ft U need to put fluid in the back tires and a 3rd lift cylindar and you are ready to cut beans like you never have before. Good luck Also there is nothing different from a 2388 to a 2588 its just a 2388 like most dealers have been selling them in the last 20 years or so... so if someone tells you different they lied. a 06 2388 is the exact same as a 07 2388 except the pretty black paint and better hopper extension (theres a handle now and a lil flip down door to get inside the hopper)

Hi Unit 2 yes the 2388 is getting up there with hours it has 3600 engine hours and almost 3000 rotor hours. I already have a 1010 rigid head and I was going to keep that and use it on a 2588 if I bought one that is why I was wondering if it would fit. I do agree with you a draper head would be nice but the cost of one is more then what my budget will alow. Glad you enjoy the blog.

There are a couple of other minor changes, but basically they are the same. I think the 07 whould be a tier 3 emission engine which will mean higher fuel consumption.

You may have made a misprint, but there were no '07 2388s. They were 2588s. You are mostly right, but don't forget the extra horsepower. It makes some difference. I know from experience.

Oh, don't forget that they may have fixed the problem of the wheel lug bolts breaking off on the 2388s with dual wheels. Also, the straw doesn't collect on the rear axle and fall off in bunches. And you can get the color monitor which is a huge improvement in the ability to read in bright sunlight. Also the longer unloading auger is available from the factory. And it's supposed unload faster, but you can't prove it by me. And you get the 30 Year Anniversary decal!!!!
