Combines 1020 bounces

I have a similar problem, but when combining the head will bounce and then start to creep up until I hit the down on the rocker switch. I have increased the down pressure, the sensitivity is all the way off and now I am oiling the cable to the potentiomiter, but every now and then it still starts to bounce and raise up. I switch it from auto to manual for 10-20 seconds and then it will settle down and be OK for a while. What else should I doIJ Thanks

Sounds like time for a new controller, but there could be other stuff too

If it bounces when you drop it either let the oil warm up or the head is dropping too fast. look in manual and it will show you where the adj bolt is for header drop speed.

Check for abnormal wear in the mechanical part of the header height control. I had a head that was worn out so bad and had so much play in linkages under skid shoes, it would lie to the sensors. I believe the technicians terminology for what your header is doing is known as hunting . Good luck with the harvest.

Could be as simple as readjusting the potentiometer(sp). look in the grainhead operator manual, it walks you through the process.
