Combines 1020 cutting problem

What diameter is the rear pulley running the knifeIJ We had something flipped around on our tensioner so that it didn't tighten the belt enough, but I can't remember exactly what. Do you have a 1020 parts manual to look atIJ I think it might have been that angle iron pieceIJ

We where cutting our wheat, everything was ok, got into a different varity,it was hard to cut, the wobble box was making noise so had to stop, we let dry down more, try it and worked ok. I noitce this year that the straw is not dryed down like other years. We run the SCH knife, really like it.

Check to see that your knife starts and ends in the middle of your gaurds. I have had the same problem before cutting beans that had fine grass in them.

The pulley is a 10.5 inch that drives cutter bar,so book says that it is 500 rpm,would changing to the 600 rpm help in wheat and soy beans.I did put a new belt on yesterday and adjusted hold down clips on cutter bar and haven't been able to try it yet,rained yesterday and is raining again this morning.1680 was doing a real nice job,all I have to do is get head cutting better.

We've had good luck with the 500 rpm pulley and 3" knife, even in really tough straw. Our knife sections were in good shape, and I only stopped it once in really heavy straw. To be honest, it was so wet that we had no business trying to cut that wheat. I'm sure the 600 RPM pulley would probably go through even more, but the extra speed has to be pretty tough on the wobble box and the knife. If you continue to have trouble, you might give it a try, but I would go back to the 500 rpm as soon as conditions improve. Maybe someone who's used this pulley will share their experiencesIJ
