Combines 1020 head speeds

This is just my opinion but I would switch cutter bar pulleys to the 500rpm, 600 sounds awfully fast to me, If you usually have short beans and wanna run 6mph then you probably should stey with the 600rpm pulley just to help keep the combine full, but if like us tall, thick, and green fodder there is no need to run the 600. The faster you run things the quicker they'll wear out. On my head 1020 25' I'm actually running the 460rpm pulley, it runs slow but still does a good job of cutting so I just left it there. Also if you go from 600 to 500 you'll need a different belt, at least I did. Good luck

You need the 500 rpm knife for wheat. We had the 460 and it stopped the cutter bar at night when the moisture came up. I bet 460 would work fine for beans. The 600 should only be used with the 3" sections. I would not use it with the open wobble box. It is for extreme conditions. We have a new belt and pulley for 600 rpm, but have never needed them. We have the standard auger speed (152 rpm, 56 tooth sprocket). It looks slow, but always works fine. I would start with it. Mike
