Thought of something else reguarding header gouging. Header ground pressure is likely to high. You will need to adjust the leaf spring tension on the cutterbar to decrease ground pressure. Tighten up the bolts on the leaf springs. It won't take much at a time to make a big difference. I have found that the spring tension is about right if when I step on the cutter bar when close to the ground it will bounce back a couple of inches. You may have to readjust you sensitivity and_or position control. There is a very detailed setup proceedure that needs to be followed in correct order to set this header up. I don't recall it it is in the operators manual or not, but you dealer should have it. Another 2cents worth.
