If you move the final drives down so that the machine is set up for high ground clearance it will allow the feederhouse to tip downwards which will let the cutterbar scalp the beans off right at the ground. You can then move the rear axle to level out the machine or better yet make the machine as high as possible in the rear. It's a pain to make these changes, but it's a cheap, effective fix.

I think you'll notice quite a difference. We have no complaints with how low we can cut now. I suggested this last year to a guy who wrote back saying it made a big difference for him also. If you try it, let us know how it works for you. I will warn you that it makes the bin extensions 3-1_2" closer to the top of the barn door and you will want something to stand on when you change concaves, but tons of mud clearance now!

we can scalp the ground without going to all that trouble. 10 degrees forward on the back side of platform. book on tire sizes is not that far off. you may have your springs too tight for your conditions, some people tighten up springs instead of making ahc work properly. in other words some people counteract the probkem rather than fix the problem.

where are cutting by the indicator presuming it is set. i usually run just above half. you need ro do this to keep from making mounds. need more down pressure.

We put the adjustment on the feederhouse as far forward as possible first, but we still couldn't get the cutterbar down far enough. I think the AHC is working fine, but it cuts a lot lower with the machine raised up.

tie your air hose up higher . i used a rope to the angle brace. now i can see indicator. can't see how you run and not watch indicator.
