Did you plug the electrical adaptor into the back of the potIJ

Yes I have the adapter in place. The automatic header control works great but I cant get my cutting height where I want to run it. The most the head will come up is to the middle mark and I want to run it higher than that. There has to be a way of getting full travel of the header height knob like you were able to with the cable setup.

Just a guess here. You may have to recalabrate the platform for the combine, I'm not sure if you can do it with that model combine though. On my 2188 what I'd do is turn the key off and then on, then push the header switch all the way down and hold the button down with the platform on the ground for 5 seconds, then run the header switch up, the platform should pause for a second or two about 1_3 of the way up. Hope I didn't leave anything out and good luck.

The recalibration won't be applicable to a 1660. On our 1680 we installed the same kit and used the adaptor and everything worked just fine. Took the adaptor off and it worked just fine on the 2188. We didn't have the problem you describe, so I think the kit must work on some machines. Did your old pot work fine with the machine before you make the switchIJ

I installed the pot that came with the kit. Got by with it for less than a day. Then I noticed the head was constantly searching. Just seamed too like it was working in too narrow of a ohms range to settle down. Ended up mounting the original pot back on. It has been flawless ever since. The kit will cure the cable problem but the pot would not work with my 1680 electronics.

This head was used on a 1440 that was still the old style cable system . He just got this 1660 so I dont know the history of the machine. like I said the automatic works fine if I can just get the full range of header height.

Just a thought....Is the rod on the Pot toward the back of the machine ...check the pictures in the instructions and match it with yours....Jack
