I am not certain on the differences, but We do own a case-ih 1052 and a Macdon 972. Back when these first were introduced there were three different widths of the center belt. Two different beaters on the Maxi-float; Auger with serrated kicker, and Auger with retractable fingers. For whatever reason Case always bought the maxi-float adapter with the small center belt, that way it would go on the 66's series combines. Stupid in my mind, the first 8010 that I seen in my country had a 36 ft Case-IH version of the MacDon with the middle size center throat. Which with its wide feeder house there is no reason it should not of had the I believe 54" center canvas, Same as a JD would have. If I was buying the MacDon header I would get one thru Mac Don because there are quite a few options that they know how to cater to. One thing I can think of is lagging on the rolls. Gives superior traction to rollers. When we bougth are first head it was the Case-IH 1052 and I believe the dealer only had 3 options.

O.K. here's what you need to take on board. The fronts are built by MacDon their model numbers are 962 head with one of 3 adaptors, 871 and 872 are the ones with leaf springs under them this is what is known as a 1042, setup for a 2388 it will have a narrower gap between the left and right draper belts because of the narrower feederhouse width compared to the 8010, I don't believe that the 871_872 will fit on an 8010. A 2042 is basically the same head with a 873 adaptor (identified by 4 large tension springs carrying the head)This can be set for either a 2388 or an 8010.Maybe they shoved a new adaptor in a head set for a 2388 if so the feed would have been restricted, wouldn't be the first time a dealer hamstrung a demo. I've demonstrated with the heavier 2052 head (973_873) and it went really well.

Thanks guys that makes more scents. The head that was on it was the narrow front with the leaf springs in it. I have talked to other guys that have demoed this unit, that have run other colors beside gleaner and said the same thing. That it is to slow or no capasity. Thanks again I will have a chat with the dealer.
