2208 is a much heavier head than 1083. My dealer just told me this morning that the 2206 weighs as much as the 1083. He also said there are some reliablility issues with the 2200 series. Several updates have been required since this series began. Other than that, I just finished replacing both auger troughs on my 1083. The new ones are much heavier than original. Maybe it will last more than 3000 acres this time. lOl

Talking about the auger trough on the 1083's. After putting two in my 1083 I got the may-wes poly floor liner kit for this fall. easy to put in and only 300-400 dollars so far (About 400 acres of corn) it looks good and was not any harder to install than the steel floor. I was very upset that I could not keep a floor in the 1083 for more than one year my 983 was 20 plus years old and I never wore the floor out.But I really recommend the poly floor kit for the corn head it works great.
