Stop leak should be outlawed. You ought to see what that crap does to a recovery machine. When it happed to ours is was nearly cheaper to buy a new one rather than clean and replace parts of the recovery machine we had. Plus, if it will plug a leak you don't want it will plug the ones you need in the system. My suggestion is to get rid of the electronic detector, charge the system with dry nitrogen, get out the soapy water and brush and go to work. Only thing I know or that will find leaks for certain and you can vent the nitrogen to the atmosphere. If you still have a York or Tech. compressor might consider swaping to a Sainden.

My dealer vacumes the system before charging and you should see the muck that comes out of a healthy system, let alone putting that stuff in. I would knock off for a day and get it sorted out properly. There are no shortcuts with A_C.

like the others say, never use stopleak, but I have had excellent luck using a product made by Interdynamics that contains a hose_Oring_seal conditioner and sealer. It comes in a 12 oz can of 134a refrigerant. I used 2 cans in my 78 model 1480 with the original R12 hoses still in it. yearly loss is usually less than 12 oz. I have also used this stuff on a couple of mystery leaker R12 to 134a conversions with good results. Being able to use those old hoses really lowers the cost of a conversions. The Interdynamics sealer_conditioner_refrigerant is avalible at walmart.
