not to fammilliar with the 1440, ajustment on rotor on other machines is 3_8 inch in bottom of rotor driven pulley, put gearbox in neutral rotate pulley as you ajust so belt can move in on rotor pulley I keep a 3_8 keystock on top of the rotor gearbox cover for convienence, but in this forum old pokey mentions it's not that critical on setting rotor belt just get it close make sure the torque hub is working properly once a week run rotor speed thru a full cycle up and down then back to your set speed this will insure that groves won't form on torque hub good luck
