I can help because I just changed the fan shaft in my 1440! Ok. here goes, are you sure that there isn't just a bearing gone causing the fan to wobbleIJ You can also adjust the fan position in the housing by sliding the housing ahead or back as neccessary,after you eliminate all the simple solutions here's how to get the fan out, after removing all the side sheilds that are in the way and the drive pulley off the right hand side,(on ours the drive pulley had worn into the shaft) you need to remove the tapered keys that are in the 2 hubs that hold the fan to the shaft. by using a long pry bar with a bend in the last 4 inches you can hold the bar from the opposite side of the machine and drive out the tapered key a little penetraring oil will help overnight. remove tach gear and bearings and the shaft should slide out either side.
