Combines 1440 shifter

check your linkage on the transmission. Sounds like some of the shift rods are sticking. They will get all full of dirt and then when you try to shift the handle moves, but you don't actually shift the transmission. If you have help, should should be able to see what it's doing if someone's in the cab and someone's watching the tranny

If it's like our 1480, there's a little flipper thingy on the shift linkages down on the transmission that's spring loaded, but it won't spring. My solution has been to not run in first. We never go that slow anyway! Chads

I had same problem last year with my 1440. Shift linkage was full of dust and dirt. Cleaned up with WD 40 and now okay. I try to clean a couple times a year and have not had any trouble since.

You have a cable sticking between the cab and tranny. My 1440's cable had the outer plastic casing worn through at the rotor side door and had rusted the inner cable. Hope this helps.

depending on the size you could use a forklift or two loaders to pick the header. we use a 4000 lb lift to move and store our 15', it handles it easily.
