The two machines are very hard to compare. The horsepower in a 1666 is substantially greater as is the cleaning area. like you said internal components are pretty much the same (you can put a 1440 rotor in a 1666) but they have changed the cage around the rotor giving you 4 more bars on your concaves giving you less rotor loss, steel has been hardened on major wear components giving you more life, they have changed seperator speeds (not for sure on exactly how much),better sheaves on rotor drive, beefed up gearboxes and drives, better hydralic system, stronger feederhouse, and the list goes on. We have a '94 1666 around and have ran a 30' 1010 header on it in 50 bushel wheat at 3-3.5 mph something we never even would of attempted with our old 1460's. If you are interested we have this 1666 for sale for around $45000 fully loaded, rear wheel assist, 30.5 32 fronts, hopper ext, deluxe spreaders, and all the other options, we are handy, we are from Evansville.
