The Marlin elephant ears may work for you. They do eliminate a lot of the growling problems. I would give them a try.

Where are your transit vanes setIJ Have you inspected them to see if you might have some which are badly worn or maybe have a couple of them folded overIJ Assuming, since it's a 1440 model, that you have a standard grain rotor, are you using straight or sawtoothed stripper bars over the rear gratesIJ Sawtoothed strippers will fight the vanes in vine crops and hold trash in longer than necessary, requiring vines to build up small slugs before the vanes can force trash to the rear. This usually haappens without much loss in rotor speed. Hope this makes sense.

tj,please elaborate how the sawtooth separator bars hold back the bean vines.I take it that they don't release the vines good enough when they go around over the top,and then the vanes can't move the crop on.Is that about rightIJWould it help if the teeth were slanted back 22* or 45*IJ
