Useing the hydo to stop is very hard on the drives and the machine. First thing I repared on my 1440 was the brakes and it is a pain to do. Rust ruins the system so when you rebuild the master cylinder use a silicone based fluid and bleed the system once a year to clear the moisture that collects. Pull the seat, floorplate (I pulled the pedal asembly, mistake, I think) to get to it.Also check the lines to the wheel cylinders as mine had holes rubbed in them from vibration. Probably caused the failure in the first place. Good luck, and a good threshing too you. Junkman

i usually hone thw slave cylinders then put a expansion plug in the bottom of it. then put new rubber in the top. loosen up all linkage. holds for quite a few years. brakes are still lousy though. you can put new slave cylinders on ,next year it will be drained of fluid also.
