489gus; Go to your dealer and ask about an elevator speed-up kit. Had one on a 1440 once. You may be able to also add a "teardrop style" boot if you don't have one already. The elevator slip clutch should have prevented the auger from twisting off though. look at that and compare the spring setting measurement to what the op's manual says. It needs to be greased too.

Are you twisting the auger off or screwing up the flighting. If your twisting off the auger shaft I was told that the conveyor chain was likely to tight. Set it with a 1_4" gap at botttom not the 1_32" setting as in owners manual. Weapon
