I wish I had a website for you but I don't. The 1470_1670 was basicly a 14_1660 with the larger 80 series engine that had a RA Hill leveler installed. The kit included a rear assist that turned on with a switch on the floor. When it came to cutting on hillsides these babies were the cat's meow they would climb a wall and level on one too. I think the leveler was good to something like 40 degrees they were impressive

The 14_1670 were serious hillside combines made mainly for the steep hills in the Pacific Northwest. And I think they will level to over on slopes of 40% vice 40 degrees. No factory levelers other than the Deere sidehill are being made now in this country. You can now buy a aftermarket leveler for a CIH or any brand of combine now from Hillco in Idaho. You can even order a new CIH combine with a Hillco leveler from the factory. Check the pictures on Hillco's site as they have some machines running in corn country.

Thank you very much for your input...reading these comments have been an eye opener, and making them look into the 1670 a little closer...though being located in western Iowa will parts be an issueIJ

The 1670 is a really good machine. Parts for the combine itself are not a problem but when you go to buy leveler parts things get really expensive. Most guys out here have local fab shops build the parts that break most often and some even have some rebuilds on hand. Someone told me once that it cut the price about 60% over ordering from RA Hanson. The 1470's are fairly common out here but the 1670's are harder to find. Now that Hillco has dropped the price of their leveler (24000$ I think) a lot of guys are going to that. Dean

I wonder about the width of the CIH hillside combines. They use huge non-directional nobby tires and have a real wide wheel spacing for obvious reasons. The wide spaced rear wheels and limited turn radius might be a problem too. I suspect you would have to use a least an 8 row corn head to keep the tires out of the corn. A 2166_2366 with a Hillco leveler would be a much better combine for your Iowa corn.
