Combines 1480 header creeps down during operation

Does your combine have automatic header height controlIJ Our 1480 would leak down like that and the problem was one of the upper valves on header plumbing.

To add to the above post, it was valve "C" that was leaking and causing the header to slowly drop.

Our 1480 does not have auto height control. We've also just had our reel height control give us problems today as well. Could these symtoms be relatedIJIJ BTW how do I find out which valve is valve C.

I have a 1460 that does the same thing with my corn head attached, i.e. no header control functioning. I've thought about installing a sonar type header control to use with the corn head and possibly the grain table too. This would be handy for corn and it would cure the symptoms of the creeping down, though not the cause.

A 1480 without automatic header height control would not have the C valve. It and several others are used for automatic or float or manual. They anr not in the valve stack, but are hand valves on the left front side of the combine. look in the operators manual under auto header height control.

We have nothing that used the auto height control , so we removed the valve and plugged the lines. The only fix is to replace the valve
