Roger, If the alarm doesn't sound off, it could be that the switch on the backside of the monitor has been shut off, meaning no alarm sounding. The functions all have a shut off switch. Maybe it was turned off because of a problem in the past.

The shaft monitor on our 1480 hasn't worked since we've had it, and I don't see where it's a big deal. You'll hear the slip clutch about the time you would hear the monitor! If the rotor gets too slow, it's probably already too late! I don't see where it makes much difference if you're paying attention. The beans are so tough lately I normally run with one eye on the tach anyway! Chads

I believe that if the monitor thinks that more than one component is not turning, it will display a "0", because it does not have the ability to show more than one number at once. So if the monitor is showing a zero, than you have at least two bad sensors. Maybe.

I reciently had problems with my monitor, fixed now. It was a sensor. To check operation, engage seperator and run at 2550 rpms, turn the two fan and rotor knobs clockwise to stops then slowly ccw until the alarm sounds then back cw to stop the alarm plus a little more. You can check the other alarms by slowing the engine until an alarm sounds (usually between 2300-1900 rpms) then disable that alarm with the switch on the back of the monitor and repete to test other alarms. I had a JD 7700 w_o a monitor for years and really like having one on the IHC now.
