They are great combines for the money and will do a great job in those crops. Be warned that they are getting old and repairs can cost a lot like any machine. I wouldn't pay any more than $6000 -$7000 for a 1482 and that would have to be premium. A good 1682 can usually be found for $10000 - $12000 (cdn). The 1682 would be a better buy, more capacity and better feeding. Some repair examples: tire $1700, gearbox $5000+, rotor drive (not driven) pulley $2200, shaft to run that pulley $850, header drive clutch $1200. These are things that surprise people. I would recommend buy one cheap and if something big goes buy another and keep first for parts. One positive they are very easy to work on.
