Don't know of any 16 row 30" heads made, yet. Another solution to your problem would be to plant 24 rows and pick 12.

That sounds good but what dose a 24 row planter cost and what type of hp do i need to pull it. I have some info on deeres new 36 row 30 inch planter that is a nice unit but not for me.

Don't know the exact cost of a 24 row. Depends on what you add to it. Horsepower requirements should only be in the 200 h.p. range depending on whether you are running on flat ground or in hills.

Give Brad Bish a call at Harv's Farm Supply in Giltner Nebr. Another shop you could call is Clarke Machine Shop in Howard S.D., both do excellent work and their finished headers look mighty fine. Both shops have built 16 row heads, corn and JD Row-Crop units. You might ask about making you a frame, then use your own row units to finish it up, saves big $$$ that way. We did it with a 12 row and are very pleased with the looks and performance. My 2 pennys worth.

I take it you run red. Was there any thing you had to do for the added weight. How dose your machine handle the 16 row header, it wiil cut back on ground speed i would guess.

Pull my 24 row with MF 8160 180 HP MFD works fine. My 2 cents worth but it would seem you would have more to gain by getting a bigger planter cause you could get your crop planted a lot quicker. 16 row head probably won't get more done than 12 row each day, because you can already push capacity of combine to the max with a 12 row.

Didn't Cat try a prototype 16 row headIJ Problem was that it couldn't make a half round, couldn't open fields, etc. They had another smaller machine to make cuts and do ends. Irv

We pull are 24 row planter with our 8410 jd mfd we plant at 5.5 - 6 mph. That new 36 row unit from john deere looks good, should be able to cover ground with that.

Your combine isn't isn't stout enough to lift a 1630 cornhead, no one's is currently. It will require a minimum or 160hp, at the feederhouse, to operate (amazing tourque will be required to turn over = shelled out drivelines). It will weigh a minimum of 11,000lbs, which even a third or even a fourth lift cylinder won't support because of the lack of size of your combine's feederhouse. Better that you weight until a combine is build to handle the magnitude of affects that a 1630 will bring.

So john deere can't handle a 16 row head what about the cat or the case ih or newholland. Are you just saying that because it is gleaner. I am not trying to start some thing here, i have seen pics of a 16 row head on a jd and on a newholland.
