Just overhauled my 1988 1640 engine. It's a D466. Cost $3975. Had 3066 hrs. Dealer did the overhaul. Only had 50 acs. left to cut. I run over 600 acs. per year. I'd say if your 1440 had a bunch of hours on it, move up to a 1660 or newer.
