I just bought a 1440 with 2200 hours and a 15' 1020 hd for $35,000. It's a nice clean machine. This was more than I wanted to pay but good clean machines are hard to come by. Is the 1640 worth $10,000 more .... who's knows! If it's clean I would try $42,500.

We just bought a 1985 1440 for 40,000 can. low hours I looked at alot of them. Its hard to get one in showroom condition I don"t know how some people can abuse a piece of equipment, they must be in reverse half of the time. And I still need a flex head so I figure 10,000 or so. Great talking with you.

We have a 89 1660 that is in very good shape that you could by for 35,000.00, we bought it new and never pushed it. we ran a four row head and a 17.5 foot grain table. The only reason we are getting rid of it we bought a used 2366, for what we thought was a good buy.if you are interested I could get you some pictures or the number of the dealer that serviced it for us.

I'm located in Indiana. I just bought a 1992 CaseIH 1640 from a local farmer in December. It has 1400 hours and is in good shape. Needs the first round of wear parts now, but that is expected. It came with a 20 foot 1020 head and a 6 row 1063 corn head. All the same age. Also a Underferth head trailer for the bean head. He wanted $60,000 for everything and I talked him down to $57,000. From all of the checking at dealers and the ironsearch books in FSA and Farm Credit, I think I did alright on it. Very Hard to find a good used machine!!
