Engine HP is about equal, but the seperation and cleaning of the 52 is larger. Heads are about equals. The 52 has a larger grain bin capacity. The 52 will run an 8 row head with ease and the 1644 is maxed out with the 8 row. Those are direct specs. from Case and Gleaner. looked at both before I bought, the 1660_66 are closer matches to the R50_52. Both are good machines, so the dealer is important too. I have Excellent Gleaner dealers and Great CaseIH dealers in my area.
