Combines 1660 high RPM settingIJ

I think your manual will tell you, but I think around 2550

I thought without load the setting was 2600+. Under load I'm currently running 2530-2540. The 1660 manual that came with 1660 is miising the that section. The other full manuala I have one is for a 1660 with the IH engine. The manual is for a 1640 with CDC. Would the 1640 with the 5.9l and 1660 with 8.3l use the same RPM settingsIJ

Well I could be wrong. I had a 1680 with the 8.3. I think the 5.9 runs faster. Somebody on here knows for sure.

Just looked it up a couple days ago . I have a 1991 1660 with CDC engine , my book says high idle no load 2680-2710 rpm . The 1992 1660's (last year built) and the 21 and 23 models run slower , somewhere around 2500 I think . I don't know if all previous 1660's run that fast , that is just what my book says and it is the correct book for my machine serial nnnnn .

Thanks for the reply. I know they made a gear change (in the PTO attached to the engine) lower the RPM's but I can't remember when. Seems like that reduce the RPMs to 2100 though. Thanks again for the guick reply.
