I bought a '91 1660 used , told the dealer to make sure I had enough power . I started in beans 20ft with chopper I thought it was a little under powered . He came out and set it up some and also set the rpm's up to the high rated speed , made a lot of difference , has plenty of power , I run 20ft and 6 - 30's in 175 - 200 bu corn , no complaints and fuel consumption isn't too bad . I don't know exactly what he did , I know the Deere pumps real good but I think this is a little different , he said , I don't think he wanted me to mess with it . Be careful not to go too far , because more power is harder on belts etc .

I had a talk with a Axial Flow wizard here i Denmark because i just purchased a 1460 this winter (first time AF) He said that he never sell a machine without a manometer on the intake manifold. The manometer is placed by the loss monitor where its easy to see on the go. This is only possible to check when harvesting in the field. On the 1460 is the procedure that you press the combine so the engine rpms drop down to 2500 and by 2500 rpm the presure in the manifold should be 1,2-1,3 bar (17-19psi) if you cant reach that presure then your engine is not getting enough fuel.and then you have to adjust the fuelpump. Since the hp is the limit of capacity is it very important that the engine is on the top. By using this manometer is it very easy to reach maximum capacity. I hope you can use this information MADS
