Was the gearbox run low on oilIJ Do you change the gearbox oil every yearIJ Maybe you lost a bearing and this affected the gear alignmentIJ

Problem usually appears when customers do not change oil at 300 hours or at least once per year. Includes filter. When you get yours replaced_rebuilt, change oil after the first day. Theory is that we get a lot of metal from the gears wearing in initially. Would also recommend changing again at 50 hours. Be sure to use Hy-Tran Ultra.

Oil has been changed regularly along with the filters. Bearings appear to be ok. The teeth are all off the pinion but none off the crown. Thanks for the advice on replacement.

FYI, There is no filter on the PTO gearbox to change on the 40_60 series. It's only on the 80 series. But, on the 40_60 series, you can drain out an additional quart or so from the gearbox if you take out the 5_8 square plug on the forward part of the housing. It's located just rearward of the sep. belt drive pulley.
