we just had the whole jack shaft and pulleys apart on our 1660. the reason was the bearings went out. it was no problem getting the pulleys off. they slid right off easily. of course they were very heavy. but with a comealong from the shed rafter it wasnt bad. be sure and check those bearings while your at it theyre easy to replace once you have the pulleys off.
