On a 1460 it comes out the left side(big cover plate) I would guess a 1660 is the same.

Tango Guest Nov 2, 2003 #2 The tailings auger can be taken out the left side of the combine. I think once you loosen the bearing there is an oblong hole where the auger can be screwed out. The auger will not just pull out but can be screwed out the hole. Good luck Steve
