Combines 1660 wireing problems

We had this same kind of problem on our 1660, but only on the spreader. We checked the sensor and it worked perfectly. We ended up traceing the wire back to the left side of the combine and testing it with a voltage tester. We finally fixed it by luck, curling the wire in just the right way got it to work again and it hasent gave trouble since

Just trace the wire that connects from the spreader sensor. It should come out of a hole a few feet from the back of the machine and then run down the side of the combine.

last year, my spreader alarm started alarming only when I went around steep terraces on one side. Then finally, it went off all the time. I figured out that it was a wire problem and traced it to the left side of the combine It was a break in the wire inside the insulation with out any external evidence of any problem whatsoever. I isolated it by having a person watch the monitor in the cab while I endlessly kneaded the wire back and forth to pin-point the spot.

We had a bad wire in one of the switches on the hydro lever on a new machine. Turns out when the wire manufacture makes wire there's a break at the end of the copper wire but not in the insulation. Soo we end up with some defective switches and harnesses. I guess it's within % of their tolerances. Sure is hard to tolerate in the field.
