Combines 1680 Cummins engine oil pump

This is the first I've heard of an oil pump problem but I can tell you from experience that at 1500 hrs the fan support bearing needs to be changed. We have a 1688 and at 1700 hrs the bearing went out and let the fan into the radiator. What do they say is wrong with the oil pumpIJ

Change the oil pump I know that the 1990 to 1992 1680 had high reving engins and the oil pumps became week.Our dealer recomends changing the pump at 1500 hours,as for the fan bearing change it to if you are over 1500 hours, I had a bearing go out on one of my 1994 1688's at 1800 hours,not a perty site.This is all so the same set up in our 7220 Magnum so any one with one of these tractors you should look at changing the bearing too,It is only around $135.00 canadian and not that hard to change. I had a 1660 that the oil pump twisted the drive shaft at 1500 hrs. Needless to say we had to replace the engine. This was on one of the early Cummins engines that had been recalled. If it was mine I would replace the oil pump. Sure would be a lot cheaper than a new engine (around $12k as I recall).

Thanks for the comments, I got a call late Friday from our shop foreman and he checked into what was the change in the pump, the new pump has more capacity as in the 1688's they put in two spray jets under each piston and the new pump has more capacity to handle the extra jets. New pump is around the $100.00 Canadian, fan bearings they carry on hand so I'm going to get both done. Also got me thinking about changing the fan bearings now in my 846 Versatile with 4200 hrs on it, cheap insurance. I farm in southern Manitoba, Canada. Thanks again, Scouter
