Combines 1680 revs

You want to look for the screw that restricts the travel of the throttle lever on the pump. It may have a plastic cap on it. Adjust it so that the high idle is only 2720. There is no reason to run at 2820.

Get your tach checked out first or use a mechanical tach to confirm your readings. These electronic tachs are often out a few hundred RPM. This happened to me on a 1460.

Thanks for that I now have it set at 2710rpm and hopfully it will cut the stress on the sives down.

Good job. I think you will like that better. If your injection pump is set up right you will get full power at 2500 RPM. If it lugs down too quick, the governor needs to be adjusted. Does it kind of lope for a few seconds when you start it upIJ That's a good sign....means the governor might be set pretty sensitive.

I have 2 1688's, they were beating themselves apart because the sieves were going too fast. CaseIh makes a slowdown kit for 2188's. I put them on my 1688's they have been nearly trouble free 1500 hours later.I replaced some bushing this preseason but used to replace every season.

Thanks Farm Kid 2, When I start it it turns over a couple of times and then picks straight up. I think that the pump was opened up on the previous farm as the screw on the right of the pump as you look at it has been screwed out about a quarter of an inch since the pump was painted. The engine runs well and it does have a lot of power- I have only ever blocked the rotor once in 5 years in oilseed rape (I think you call it Canola). One other thing you may have come accross is somtimes the fuel draws back from the pump and it won't start until you pump the liftpump a few times. It does this with either a full or empty tank, the filters have been changed and the tank vent is clear. It does this at irregular intivals.

I found the kit in the axial-flow product support book. The part n is 303188A1. I don't remember the cost but it was worth it!!! Called a Cleaning System Speed Reduction Kit is says it is for a 2188, 2388 but it fit my 1688's , I am pretty sure it will fit a 1680. Tom
