Combines 1680 vs 2388

I think you would be better off instaling an AFX style rotor in your existing combines.Neighbor has '91 1680 with new stlye rotor and '94 1688 with std rotor. 1680 will consistantly do 1.5-2 mph faster in side by side going. Seems cheap way to improve capacity. Also improves value of the old girl by+_- $ 5000 in southern Alberta.

I hadn't thought of that angle....but it is certainly one worth considering. Thanks.

I've been messing with a 2188 for two years now and still have not been able out cut our 1680 (because of the engine). I'm now considering going into the pump again and putting a torque capsule in. If you have the Cummins engine and it's set right, you have plenty of power. The 2388 might have some really nice features, but if your 1680's are reliable, I think you can update them and save some money. I like the AFX rotor suggestion.
