Combines 1688 Audible Shaft Alarm

Slinger, what grounds the audible alarm on the older combines(14_1600s) is the neutral start switch on the clutch(foot-n-inch) pedal underneath the cab of the combine. If you look at the switch, you will see there are 2 sets of wires-one for neutral start, the other set for the alarm. You should be able to shut the alarm off_turn it on again by stepping on the clutch pedal. You could also have a problem with the alarm itself. Good luck!

Thanks SDman for the info. It is greatly appreciated. The switch checked out OK, but the problem ended up to be a faulty alarm, as you suggested. Being an intermittent problem, it was hard to find, because every time I brought the combine to the yard to check it out, the alarm worked.
