Put a loewen air foil chaffer in your machine. lighter and stronger than the oem. Or maybe now is a good time to try out one of Marvin Gordons AirJet Chaffers.

John, the last seive was an airfoil from loewen. Also I had the Peterson airfoil in a 1660 and it lasted a little over one year. It didn't crack, but many of the wires wore out and broke. No warranty from loewen, I even sent the seive back to them. lucky for me, the dealer I bought it from gave me credit towards the purchase of a new one, which I purchased for the 1688.

This sounds like the front hanger arms might be out of alignment. Check the hex shaft which passes thru between the arms at the front for a twist.

I know loewen is no longer selling the HCC(Hart Carter) chaffers, same ones the OEM's use, the ones where the wires were wearing and breaking, but manufacturing their own, with square hole plastic bushings in each hole to keep their square wires from wearing and breaking.

I had the same problem two years ago, all shaker bushings were good, the hex bearing on the right side drive arm, that is behind your big elevator jackshaft pulley was out. The hex shaft runs the auger bed. that bearing is hard to see and gets all the moisture when the machine is washed for the winter. Hope that helps.

seen two machines with this problem in past month... in both instances, the shaker bearing on left side had been replaced, but not reinstalled properly. loosen nut, make sure bearing bottoms out against snap ring on hex shaft. reinstall special washer, insuring that it seats properly. torque to spec...
