It maybe could be a coupler that is striped out on the shaft that goes out to the wheel. I know we have had this happen on a 1680 before. Just my 2 cents.

I too, would look at the drive shaft couplers. I have been ready to do drastic things only to find the splines sheared in a coupler. Just put it in gear and let someone watch the output shaft on the transmission or if not touch a brake as I would doubt if both side went at once. Those couplers take a lot more grease than they usually get. I try and grease them every 25 hours or so. There is also the possibility of losing the connection from the hydro pump on the engine. A while back there were many posts on this situation and the hidden grease fitting in that area. I am not familar with that problem but, it to, can be fixed in the field, or so I remember the post. if it is the coupler and you cannot get one, sometimes in a pinch you can reverse the couplers and get enough grab to make the machine go...just be very easy on that hydro handle and maybe you can limp along hope you get done beh

Chances are it is the coupler from your hydro pump to the engine. You can take the pump off in the field but have a couple of extra hands around when you do it as it is heavy. While you have the pump off you should change the belt that is there also. You didn't mention how many hours are on your machine but if you have around that 1800 or more engine hours this is defenitley your problem. Hope you got done.

Its snowing didnt get done maybe get it later but most likely in the spring. Combine has 3000 eng. hrs havent figured it out yet drive couplers look good. but looks like we have lots of time. Can it be pulled to shop

You can tow a combine as long as you disconnect the drive couplers at the final drives and use a solid tow bar attached to the rear axle, a-frame style. Use a large enough tractor to safely handle the combine for your terrain, if snow and ice use an mfd or 4wd tractor but dry roads are better. The combine will follow, no need to have anyone in the cab.
