Did one of these this fall. All your assumptions are correct. Remove the adjustable arm from the hex shaft and the plate that supports it and adjusts auger position. Slide auger as far to left as possible, and roll the right end forward on a 4x4 post. Once clear of the right end of the header (removing the divider is helpful),the auger can be pulled out of the left end. I used a forklift to do so and it worked great, Did most of the work without any assistance. The only snag I had was the arm was seized on the shaft, had to cut it apart to get it off. Do yourself a favour and change both end bearings. The inside bearings can be changed at any time. No problem - Good luck!

Has anyone removed the arm off the right side of the auger without melting it down with a torchIJ I threaded a grease fitting into the head of a 3_8 N.C. hex bolt, screwed it into the hole in the center of the arm, and forced grease through the hole up the center of the bolt. I was able to then screw the bolt in for its total thread length, but the arm didn't come free. Any suggestionsIJ

If you are carefull, you can cut the welds off the arm. This will expose the end of shaft and hub. I cut a slot in the end plate and peeled it apart so I could reach the back of the hub with the puller jaws. Was able to weld all parts back together. Don't waste too much time, parts are probably cheap from a wrecker.
