only real problem we have had with f tranys is bearing on 2nd gear shaft. It can be replaced w_o removal - does it do it in all gears or just 2nd.IJ This is a long shot, but check behind parking brake and under the change gears. While in there these gears are reversable, if you don not do a lot of road travel they can be reversed to slow you down about 20% which will let you run 2nd gear low to mid variable speed for better pulling in difficult postions. If happy , leave them as they are. Also make sure the cab is not picking up a vibration from shift linkage or clutch linkage , which we have seen before especially with the trans assy has loosend on the mtg bolts.

First thing that came to mind with me is the input to the transmission with the driven part of the variable speed mechanism. When the bearings on the input shaft go bad or the hubs wear you will get a vibration that you can feel in the seat, You can look down at it while the engine is running and see if the shaft is running true or not, this will worsen if you run the variable speed fast.

Just had the same trouble and ours was the drive shaft where you adjust the sheave position on the variable speed pulley (Where the wide belt is the driver). Inner bearings on machine went and it did the same thing and made the sound you described. Replaced and problem went away. -Ed
