Combines 1978 7700

It's hard to put a value on a machine that you have never seen.But in Cdn dollars I would think it would bring some where around 8-10 thousand dollars.The most important point is the overall condition of it. The capacity of a 7700 to 4400 is like night and day. It is huge combine capable of handling 8 row cornhead. I had one before I got a 9400 and other than creature comforts I loved it.

I had a '78 7700 was a real good machine , I think it was probably the toughest combine Deere or anybody else built . Had 643 and 216 Black reel with it. Had 3200hrs on it I wanted to update sold it to a friend and neighbor in '96 . Wanted a '88 7720T2 but couldn't get together with Deere dealers so I bought a '91 CIH 1660 kept the 643 head though. 7700 doesn't have the capacity of the 1660 but it will take 200bu corn with no trouble and compared to a 4400 darn near twice I'd guess. My friend was fatally injured in a pickup-semi accident in fall of '99 and machine was sold at his widow's auction next spring , 7700 brought $8000, 643 $6500 and the 220 Black $3100 , it was a pretty good sale and things have come down some since then I think . The old 7700 coesn't have all the creature comforts as the 9000's or the 1600's but it is one good old machine . Thanks JIM

if they haven't all been salvadged and would still be as nice as the one in question, probably will bring about what the motor is worth. 404T's might go for 3 to 5000$ ruuning, taken out. Subtract labor and markup and you're not talking much money for the whole machine. Ditto on the good machine, it really is. No frills, a pain to change cyl. speed, but has super horsepower. Rear end is the really weak point. It will not hold together. Some guys put a wishbone on it to strengthen the main frame but the spindles break all the time too. later HD rear end off 20 series fixes this but costs more than the whole 7700 combine is worth.

VA, What's the serial nIJ I bought a late model 78' 7700 3 yrs. ago and paid $6000, which included 450 miles of hauling, had 3200 hrs., it has been a very dependable combine. As for your situation, make a budget, inspect the thing with a fine tooth comb and if you like what you see make an offer using your budget and projected expenses in mind. good luck, 95man
