I believe that there would be little difference in these two machines with both using the 354 Perkins. Either machine would tend to be horsepower limited. I run a 750 grey cab, and horsepower is it's limiting factor. My question would be, what is the difference in weightIJ Would the extra weight of the 860 that will use up horsepower to be propelled through the field actually give it less capacity than the lighter 850IJ I have no idea. I have neighbors who run a 9500 Deere with a 25' head and a 850 with a 22' head. They say there is very little difference in capacity between the two machines in soybeans.

The 860 with the 540V8 is the way to go. You will never regret the V8 when climbing soft ground grades with 180 bushels of 60n wheat or when you are in heavy crop and are unloading on the fly.

I agree . I had a 750 with the turboed motor. and was short on power at times. Then I got a 860 with v8 , and wouldn't want any less hp than what it's got. And in soft or hilly aeras, I wish I had more. Joe
