JRT, I have trouble remembering what I did this morning, but ten years ago is not that hard. Why is thatIJ Back in the day, we had problems with the rotary screen plugging on the 9000's. Trash would fall off the duct onto the fuel tank, then build up between the screen and the louvered panel on the ladder landing. The belt was of a stretchy o-ring material(it was clear)and it would fail when the offending trash pile made the screen too hard to turn. In late '91 and early '92 Deere had a PIP which involved installing a spring-loaded idler and a v-belt to drive the rotary screen countershaft, and a hard rubber composistion belt and spring-loaded idler to drive the screen. About a year later another PIP involved replacing the entire screen and duct. The replacement has a set of interlocking "rake teeth" designed to prevent large pieces of trash from building up. Every 9000 series combine ought to have this. Speaking of v-belts, the first combine to utilize v-belts instead of flat belts was the All-Crop Harvester, built in the late 30's. Just a little sidebar there. Joe
