Most models have a cooler by-pass valve,it might be stuck open.

Check how hot the oil cooler actually is, just by feel. If it is cool, then Gpurr is probably right on the ball. If it is very hot then there will be a flow restriction further upstream. I have had a couple of cases [ not on Gleaners ] where restrictions ie. bits of hydraulic hose rubber, partially blocked hoses and caused real problems as well as being a total pain in the back side to find. This plugging can also occur in valves. It means a slow, tedious and systematic going through the system until you find the restriction. In Australia we have gone to an AGCO reccommended heavier hydraulic oil spec due to our high air temps and heating and oil break down problems. Probably not much help but good luck. Cheers!

Very strange problem. Only time that oil gets hot is if cooler blocks over with chaff. I would unhood the auto header control out of system if so equiped. They will sometimes malfunction and leak currant to n1 solinoid with causes system to run at to high of a constant pressure. There are two return hoses from hydro. One normaly carries very little oil for it is blocked by a 30 or 50PSI valve in line close to hydralic tank. Other hose carries oil direct to cooler and then to hydralic tank. I forget just how hydro return filter is plumbed in but you'll see if you follow them two lines. I would remove inline valve to see if something is blocking it open. And or like Gpurrs said: Check line from hydro w_o valve all the way to cooler and then from cooler to reservoir. I assume hydro feels normal and strong. Good luck

DOES YOURS DO IT All THE TIME OR JUST SOME TIMES AND IF SO DOES YOUR HYDRO SOUND DIFFERENT lIKE A BUZZING SOUND AT THE PUMP AREA WHEN ITS RUNNING HOT AND THE SOUND GOES AWAY WHEN ITS NOT RUNNING HOT IF SO I HAVE A 93 R52 WITH A DEUTZ MOTOR DOING THE SAME THING

Hello R.O.M, I'm interested in your comment about using another hydraulic oil in Australia. I use Dextron oil in my R-7 hydraulic system (changed yearly). What is the new oil that Agco recommendedIJ Is it a syntheticIJ What differences have you observed with the new oil, compared to the "old" oilIJ Thanks David

G'Day Meldrum Farm's ROM got me to look up the Hydro oil that we are currently using in our 94 R62 We were using the dextron oil same as you but we have now gone to one of AGCO's oils made by Castrol it's called CASTROl HYSPIN AWH 68 and it's in a AGCO 20 ltr drum. We have also used some BP products of the same grade it was called HVi 68 as well so it's in that 68 weight mineral oil. Try this web site as it has the oils that they recommend for Agco Combines Go to farm machinery and select that machine that you are researching. Rolf
